How I Move from Darkness to Light

Working with polarities of the mind can be healing.

I’ve discovered a new way to deal with the darkness within me. When I'm feeling down or catch myself having dark thoughts, I know I can change the state of my mind by sliding along a scale from one polarity to another. All I need to do is remember that every feeling has an opposite — another end of the spectrum. And each end of one spectrum is actually the same thing as its opposite, just a different level of intensity or vibration. Love and Hate are actually the same thing, as are Scarcity and Abundance, and Sadness and Happiness.

What does it mean to move along a scale from one polarity to the other? I use a visualization of a line between one end of the spectrum to the other. If I am feeling sad, I imagine increasing the vibration of that feeling to lift myself up and traveling along that line toward the higher, more light vibration: happiness. It’s almost like a thermometer that goes from a low temperature to a high one.

Imagine feeling fear because you can’t pay your bills. You feel stuck and panicked. Take that feeling and imagine its opposite: stability. Now imagine moving yourself along the line between these polarities toward stability, the more desirable place to be. Ride a wave that takes you smoothly from the darkness to the light.

The same can be done with sadness, confusion, anxiety, and any other human emotion that consumes us from time to time. It’s all about vibrations.

It’s simple. All you have to do is remember that your mind is totally within your own control and you can choose its vibration.

The Shades Between Darkness and Light

I’ve found that it’s difficult to simply say “Hey, I’m sad, let me just be happy now” and feel instant happiness. When I was grieving in 2022, I was in a dark place. People would tell me “It’s all about your mindset” when I would say negative and fear-based statements about how I am doomed and nothing will ever work out for me again. But I couldn’t simply tell myself to believe in abundance and miracles — I need an in-between state and a scale.
