How to Convincingly Pretend That You Like Being Human

There’s a game you’re playing and 99% of the time you’re probably not even aware of it. It’s a game of make-believe. You started it the day you were born. You’re alive, so you’re playing a role.
Every now and then, you may get a glimpse of a higher consciousness where everything makes sense and this life doesn’t seem like it’s all there is. We are bigger than our roles. We are souls.
We are souls pretending to be human. And we don’t really know why.
Every now and then, it’s okay to question the rules of the game. A lot of it doesn’t make any sense. And we have to wonder why we’re here at all.
Pretending to be human can become exhausting for the soul. There has to be a point in all of this. You may decide that you just don’t want to participate in the game anymore.
When you have given up on your will to live this human life and continue the game, you may be faced with a decision about whether to try to convince everyone you still care about it. There are plenty of good reasons to try to convince everyone you’re still playing. What follows are some suggestions about how to do this.
After all, pretending to be human intentionally and with lucidity is a very strange place to be.
Pick a “Life Purpose”
Being alive is really hard. Being a human means you are playing make-believe. You’re engaging the fantasy that life has a “path” where you are on your way toward some destination. It’s uncertain whether you’ll ever arrive there but you try anyway.
Your life purpose is important in this “journey” we’re on. It gives you a reason to get out of bed in the morning. It makes you want stuff and hope for stuff.
To be a real human, it is essential to have hopes and dreams.
So, as you’re pretending in this make-believe world we’re in, pick out a life purpose for yourself. This will help with all kinds of situations like conversations at parties and picking out laundry detergent. It…
