It’s Hard to Remember Oneness but We Must Try

Our lives are filled with distractions. There’s no end to the options we have for keeping occupied. Our eyes, ears, and minds can be totally filled with nonsense all the time if we choose it. The way the world seems to be set up, it feels like we’re encouraged not to think for ourselves or consider deep questions of existence.

If you are aware that there is oneness in the universe ever, then you should try to stay in awareness of that fact all the time.

Like any spiritual practice, it’s basically meaningless unless you allow it to pervade all aspects of your life. You have to remember that we’re all one and let that characterize everything.

For some reason, it’s really hard to do. I don’t know why this existence makes it so hard — setting it up so all of us have egos that convolute and blind us — but I know that everything happens for a reason, so I trust that the challenge is no accident. Staying aware of our oneness and connections isn’t supposed to be easy. I struggle with it, too.

Looking at someone with love who is being rude or mean to you is hard. Recognizing the divinity in everyone and everything is hard. That’s because as humans, we encounter huge barriers to universal…
