The Pandemic Doesn’t Exist in Florida

My spirit healed there, and trust me, I feel guilty admitting that.

I will gladly describe to you the way it felt to arrive in the Sunshine State after more than a year of restrictions. Gladly.

If you’re anything like me, then your deepest fantasy has been to do something shameful such as strolling down a street without a mask on. Your guilty pleasure has been to attract the eye of a stranger and exchange a maskless grin, maybe even a few words. Imagine doing all of this without feeling ashamed!

Go a bit further, and let yourself walk right into Magic Kingdom at Disney World in Orlando, Florida without a face covering, where your only worry is whether you should buy a princess balloon for your kid before or after going on all the rides.

That was me, darlings.

I went to Florida for a month and it was like returning to normal life. Alright, no. It was way better.

Oh, the guilt

Trust me, this is no easy task coming out about this. But like many, I was hurting where I was in a non-Florida state up north. I was one of the compliant mask-wearers but only because I didn’t want to offend or cause any confrontations.
