We Need to Stop Dividing Ourselves

Post-election reflections: there’s only one way to oneness and peace.

My readers know that I almost never write about politics. And I still won’t now, except to acknowledge that the United States just held another presidential election. As we’ve seen so many times before, the pendulum swung back in the other direction, to the other extreme. We seem to have nothing but polarities left in our society. And polarities are doing nothing but fueling more division, anger, and hatred between individual citizens. I see no other solution than to tone down the extremes and try to find a middle road.

Our country’s motto, printed on our currency, is “e pluribus unum”, which translates to “out of many, one” in Latin. This government was founded on the idea that we have many backgrounds and opinions, but we have come together to live in a cohesive group — embracing differences as the thing that makes us strong. But this seems to have been forgotten.

To survive, we have to find oneness and start to understand each other’s reasons before it’s too late.

Setting aside the ego and all of its attachment to anger is required now. No matter which side you’re on, this applies to you. It is a task that none of us is…
