Yeah I also struggled with the definition of a dark night of the soul, which is why I defined it before going into any other details. Actually, I had never heard of this definition that you have described. In most spiritual circles I participate in, the ‘dark night of the soul’ pertains to a time when we are depressed, feeling disconnected, and confused, right before or during a huge spiritual awakening.
