You’re Depressed Because You Self-Reflect
Only those of us able to face our shadows can feel the darkness
Since my awakening, I have come to understand other people in new ways. I always try to see myself in them. I also try to understand their struggles as my own. But what I’ve come to learn is that some people aren’t at all interested in getting better. They aren’t able to look within.
If you can’t look within, then you can’t heal. Sometimes facing our shadows is the only way to realize how we can make life better for ourselves and it’s the only pathway for drastic change.
On the other side of the darkness is some kind of happiness. But it takes courage to be in the tunnel leading there.
If you muster the courage to self-reflect, you always find yourself making progress in your path toward happiness but you also inevitably find yourself in a very uncomfortable place. Some people like to use the cliched term “the dark night of the soul” to describe this part of a soul’s journey. It’s a time when you have faced your darkest parts and you realize a lot of things need to change. It isn’t pretty.
The past needs to heal. Your true self needs to be expressed. And life must find its way toward the light.
